Hammond Libraries: Real Page-Turners

We are proud to boast two libraries that help support our forward-thinking philosophy while encouraging a love of learning and an enjoyment of reading.

Chapter One: Lower School Walker Library

Located in the pioneer village at our Lower School, the Walker Library serves pre-kindergarten through fourth grade students. Weekly class visits to research topics, choose books, and often participate in a special activity, are a highlight of our youngest students' week. Lively and inviting, the Walker Library frequently plays host to puppet shows, read-alouds, and a host of other engaging activities. With teacher permission, individual visits during the school day are also welcome!

The Plot Thickens: Middle and Upper School Manning Library

Centrally located for Middle and Upper School students, the Manning Library serves grades five through twelve, offering everything from research materials to books for enjoyment. The middle grades visit with classes to choose a book or reserach a topic. Our doors are always open for individual visits before and after school, or during the day with teacher permission. Upper School students use the library for research with their classes, during free periods and throughout the day as needed.

Faculty and student patrons have access to over 15,000 books, 9 print publications, New York Times and Wall Street Journal digital subscriptions, JSTOR databases, BrainPOP, and numerous SC DISCUS databases and resources.
