Plans were announced and ground was broken on a new athletic facility coming to South Campus. The first building for student-athletes on the lower end of campus, The Andy Greenberg Tennis Center will be built adjacent to the tennis courts and provide locker rooms, gathering space, and a covered area for spectators. The tennis center will be named in memory of Andy Greenberg '08, who spent 13 years on Hammond’s campus. He was a gifted athlete with exceptional tennis skills and was named Athlete of the Year and to the All-Area team by The State newspaper, a 3-Time All-Region Team member, and SCISA’s 2008 Player of the Year. And while his athletic skills were widely recognized, what truly set him apart was his infectious personality that left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. Andy had the remarkable ability to create laughter and enthusiasm wherever he went, and he brought this same sense of spirit to Hammond.
According to Head of School Andy North, "Our hope is that this facility will reflect Andy's athletic talent, his zest for life, and the value he placed on friendships."
