Lower School
The period of early learning is an exciting
time in the education of a child. Young children assimilate
information eagerly and easily. Based on research, educators
recognize children learn differently and move at different
rates of speed. To that end, the educational plan at Hammond
is tailored to meet individual needs. Instruction is customized
by means of multiple teaching methods based on learning styles.
In addition, an assortment of instructional materials and
manipulatives, rather than a single basal series, is utilized.
A "Planbook" keeps students on task. The result
is that a range of ability levels is accomodated in a classroom.
The curricular paths within lower school classrooms are
precisely designed for the abilities and needs of the individual
child. This instructional plan, coupled with caring, prepared
teachers, propels children to reach and grow.
