Libraries
The libraries of Hammond School support the philosophy, mission,
and curriculum of the school. The purpose of the libraries is to
nurture academic excellence in students in all three levels of
pre-collegiate education, to help them become informed and ethical
citizens of the world, to encourage students to love learning and
to enjoy reading, and to teach them to be proficient users of information
in all its formats.
Our two libraries, Walker for the Lower School grades pre-kindergarten
through fourth grade, and Manning for grades five through twelve
are located centrally on their respective campuses. Walker Library
is built as a separate log cabin with a soaring ceiling and clerestory
windows. Manning Library shares Manning Hall with Upper School
administrative offices and is convenient to both Upper and
Middle Schools.
